Sri Chakra Navavarana Pooja
Navavarana Pooja is one of the most profound and transformative rituals in the Sri Vidya tradition. Centered on the worship of Tripura Sundari through the Sri Chakra, this ritual symbolically and energetically leads the devotee through the nine enclosures (Navavarana) of divine consciousness—from the outer world to the inner point of union with the Supreme.
“Navavarana” means “nine veils,” each representing a distinct layer of creation and consciousness. Through this step-by-step worship, the sadhaka moves inward, peeling away illusions and connecting directly to Shakti, the vibrant feminine energy of the universe.
Understanding the Nine Avaranas
The Sri Chakra is not just a geometric diagram—it’s a map of the cosmos and the human self. Each enclosure (avarana) holds divine energies with specific qualities and deities:
- Trailokya Mohana Chakra – The outer square (Bhupura): Symbolizes the three worlds and the physical realm.
- Sarvasa Paripuraka Chakra – 16-petaled lotus: Represents the moon phases and desires.
- Sarvasankshobhana Chakra – 8-petaled lotus: The eight forces of attraction and repulsion.
- Sarvasaubhagyadayaka Chakra – 14 triangles: Energy channels (nadis) and the 14 worlds.
- Sarvarthasadhaka Chakra – Outer 10 triangles: The senses and life-forces (pranas).
- Sarvarakshakara Chakra – Inner 10 triangles: Fires of transformation and the ten directions.
- Sarvarogahara Chakra – 8 triangles: Healing energies and aspects of speech.
- Sarvasiddhiprada Chakra – Inner triangle: The three gunas and states of consciousness.
- Sarvanandamaya Chakra – Central bindu: The union of Shiva and Shakti, pure bliss.
Worshiping each avarana is like entering deeper layers of one’s own being—eventually reaching the heart of the Divine Mother herself.
